There are a few steps to go through when applying for a volunteer role.

We have this process in place because our goal is to find the right fit for you. Everyone has different expectations for volunteering, and we want to make sure we know and meet yours. And so, the steps you undergo to become a volunteer depend on your expectations for the experience.

Here are a few questions to consider:

What kind of a commitment can you make? One time? A few weeks? A few months? Six months? More?

Do you want a regular shift - once a week, every two weeks, or once a month? Do you want to be on call? Do you want to set your own schedule?

What's your availability? Usual office hours? The opposite of that? Something in between?

What do you want to do? Directly support clients? Help plan or execute events? Provide professional office support? Contribute to a board or committee? Advocate and raise awareness?

How much screening are you willing to undergo? None (sign me up - I'm ready to help at a fun event)? Or something more thorough that will enable you to take on a position of trust?

Once you've given some thought to what you want to get out of the experience, let's talk! You could start by filling out an application form (you can complete it online right now!). You will then be contacted by our volunteer services team who will discuss with you your interests, availability and expectations for your volunteer experience, and, from there, determine next steps.

Or, you might prefer to browse the opportunities in your region, read our FAQs, or contact your local Coordinator of Volunteer Services for more info.
