Why CRTs Matter

White cane tip and feet walkingOne in seven Canadians will develop a serious eye disease in their lifetime. Most will need to turn to CNIB for help with rebuilding their confidence and independence.

We don’t ever want to tell someone who needs us that we can’t help them. And with your support, we won’t have to.

You can make a lasting difference

As a registered charity – receiving less than 35 per cent of its total funding from the government – CNIB relies on gifts from generous supporters like you to continue to help Canadians who are blind or partially sighted.

Your charitable remainder trust (CRT) will be invested directly into vital rehabilitation services for people with vision loss of all ages, right in your own community. Those services will empower our clients with the skills, confidence and opportunities to lead full, active lives.

What your gift can do

  • Create a brighter future for kids, with one-on-one children’s services covering everything from literacy to social interaction.
  • Open doors to employment, through practical training in things like how to use a computer, write a résumé and track down job leads.
  • Give the opportunity for a full, active life, with programs that promote physical and emotional wellbeing.
  • Help make prevention a priority, through projects that raise awareness about vision health and help prevent Canadians from losing their sight.

  • Fund research for a better world, designed to improve understanding of eye health and the needs of people who are blind or partially sighted.
  • Enable independence in everyday life, with practical support in everything from cooking to walking with a white cane.
