Now in its 41st year, The Bronte Harbour yacht club provides a wonderful week of sailing for adults with sight loss. The sailing program takes place Monday, June 18 to Friday, June 22 inclusive in Bronte. Participants can attend all five days or even three days. There is a minimal small fee of $40 which includes five days of sailing, lunch, bus transportation to and from Bronte Go Station. The Quality Inn in Oakville offers a discounted fee for those who wish to stay in town. The sailing program will also coordinate accessibility needs with GO Transit to ensure safe and stress-free travel for all participants to the Bronte GO Station. Space is limited! Barrie SMART Exercise for People with Vision Loss June 18, 2018

Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together (SMART) are community-based, volunteer-led exercise programs for seniors that accommodate all levels of ability, including vision loss. Organized by the local VON Canada branch, SMART programs improve strength, balance, and cardiovascular health, and reduce social isolation and hospital visits relating to falls. CNIB is pleased to host this free exercise program specifically for people with vision loss. Space is limited (maximum 8 people). NOTE: This popular class is currently at capacity. Paralympic Legend Brian McKeever in Town June 20, 2018

Canada’s flag bearer for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, who has racked up 17 Paralympic medals including 13 gold, will speak at events at Hardwood Ski and Bike and New Path Youth and Family Services. McKeever will be speaking to audiences about the importance of never giving up on your dreams and sharing his triumphant story of overcoming adversity. McKeever began competing at the age of 13 with his hopes set on the Olympics for Cross-Country Skiing. At the age of 19, however, he was diagnosed with Stargardt disease, a macular degeneration or loss of central vision including fine detail and colour. Brian continued to chase his dreams in both Olympic and Paralympic sport. He became the first Canadian ever to be named to both the Olympic and Paralympic Teams in 2010. The Luminato Festival, Toronto's Festival of Arts and Creativity, is an annual ten-day celebration of the arts in Toronto. Luminato is proud to announce a touch tour & audio description of the theatrical performance, Out The Window. Synopsis: What would you do if you saw a stranger die? In August 2000, Liza Balkan witnessed the beating death of a man during an altercation with the police in the west end of Toronto. Called to the witness stand, Balkan kept careful track of the aftermath, then turned verbatim court transcripts, audio, video and text derived from interviews with top lawyers from both sides of the bench, into Out the Window.
