“CNIB Lake Joe on the Go” Podcast

The CNIBLakeJoe@Home virtual team is excited to announce our new “Lake Joe on the Go” podcast.

Created by Amy Lord, Virtual Program Coordinator and Taylor Gaudon, Virtual Program Facilitator and podcast host, the podcast consists of short 10–15-minute episodes that anyone can listen to at home or on the go.

During each episode, CNIB Lake Joe enthusiasts and loyal campers voice their opinions on different topics. The first episode focuses on memories of CNIB Lake Joe, while the second will concentrate on seeking employment.

“We want to talk about important things, but we also want to keep it lighthearted the way camp is and hone the spirit of CNIB Lake Joe, even though we are doing this virtually,” says Taylor.

“When we initially talked about podcasts with our campers, there were a lot of questions,” explains Taylor. “Now that the idea of a podcast has become a reality, campers can’t wait to participate and want to contribute as often as they can."

Amy and Taylor's passion project has given CNIB Lake Joe enthusiasts and loyal guests a voice to explain what the camp means to them. Campers Bruce, Bill and Dawn joined Amy and Taylor for the first podcast episode.

“For many of us, it’s the only real vacation we have. For people like myself, you get to see people who don’t live in your city. You only get to see them once a year,” says Dawn. “CNIB Lake Joe is important to people because it’s all about connecting. You connect with people across Canada.”

Amy and Taylor are planning future topics for the podcast. For more info about participating or sharing ideas, contact Amy Lord at amy.lord@cnib.ca or 1-877-748-4028 ext. 5510.
