Community Activities

Peer Support Groups: You are not alone. CNIB currently has peer support groups meeting on a regular basis. This is an opportunity for you to meet with other people who are living with the same kind of challenges and successes that you are. If you are interested in attending a support group please contact your local CNIB office for more information.

Vancouver & Lower Mainland (all groups meet at #200 - 5055 Joyce Street, Vancouver)

  • Young Adults Connections Group:
    For people aged 18 to 34. Meetings happen the 2nd Friday of every month from 2:00 to 4:30pm (except August). Enjoy fun outings and group activities that explore the Lower Mainland.
  • Working Age Connections Group:
    For people aged 35 to 64. Meeting the 1st Thursday of every month from 1:30 to 3:30pm (except August). Share experiences and learn about the resources available to you. Gain new skills and confidence in a friendly group setting.
  • Senior Connections Group:
    For people aged 65 and over. Meetings occur every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10:00am to 12:00pm (except July & August). Come and join in the group discussions and listen to guest speakers.
  • Parents Connections Group:
    For parents with vision loss raising sighted children. Meeting the last Monday of every month from 10:00am to 12:00pm (except July & August). Receive mentoring from more experienced parents about the challenges of raising children of all ages. A fun and social way for participants to connect with each other.

**For the groups in Vancouver, completing the Vision Odyssey course is recommended before joining any of the following groups. Vision Odyssey is an introductory course for CNIB clients who are new to vision loss and/or new to CNIB services

Vancouver Island:

  • Victoria Connections Group:
    Meeting the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 1:00pm to 2:30pm (except July & August). Located at the CNIB Victoria office, 2340 Richmond Road, Victoria. Share experiences and learn about the resources available to you. Gain new skills and confidence in a fun group setting.

Kelowna:

  • Kelowna Connections Group:
    Meeting the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Kelowna office, #101 - 1465 St. Paul Street, Kelowna.

Prince George:

  • Prince George Connections Group:
    Meeting at the CNIB Prince George office, #100 - 490 Quebec Street, Prince George.
