Adaptive Computer Support Volunteer:

At the CNIB centre or at a client's home, support a person who is blind or partially sighted in accessing the internet using specialized adaptive computer technology. This position is flexible, during daytime hours. You have strong computer skills, are comfortable surfing the Net, know  JAWS and/or OPEN BOOK (or are willing to learn), and have good people skills. Teaching experience is an asset. We're recruiting in:

Administration:

Ambassador:

Provide information to the public and represent CNIB at a variety of functions, displays and events. You enjoy public speaking, have experienced vision loss, are closet to someone who lives with vision loss, or are a supporter of CNIB and familiar with our life-changing programs and services. Bingo Volunteers:

Sell bonanza cards on the floor, work as a cashier, and sell tickets from the booth. Bingo volunteers are responsible for handling cash and making correct change. Bingos raise significant dollars for CNIB programs and services, and we are always looking for volunteers! We're recruiting in:

Fundraising/Special Events Volunteers:

Garden Maintenance:

Have Wheels Will Travel (Driver):

Provide transportation by car for people with vision loss in your community. Flexible hours. Our drivers are friendly, punctual and responsible, have a good knowledge of their area, a valid driver’s license, a good driving record and a minimum of $1 million third party liability car insurance.  We're recruiting in:

Outdoor Classroom Program Volunteer:

For at least 4 hours per week from May to October, you can facilitate programming in the Outdoor Classroom where sighted children come to gain knowledge, understanding and awareness of what it's like to be blind or have partial vision. Volunteers must have experience working with children ages 5 - 12 years and be patient, enthusiastic, creative, sensitive and friendly. We're recruiting in:

Reading Books onto CD:

In your home or our office, read someone's books or other printed materials onto CD or tape. Flexible hours. You have clear and articulate English diction. We're recruiting in:

Seniors Helping Seniors:

Many seniors with vision loss experience diminished independence and companionship. CNIB is seeking active, caring seniors to work with seniors who have vision loss. As a volunteer in this new project, your involvement might be as simple as a visit over a cup of coffee. You might also be asked to read correspondence aloud, go shopping, be a sighted guide or drive the individual to a medical appointment or community event. We're recruiting in:

STAR Volunteer:

Assist a person who is blind or partially sighted enjoy recreational activities by acting as a sighted guide. We need you several days during the month of May at community recreation facilities. Experience as a sighted guide and enjoyment of physical activities are assets. We're recruiting in:

Toy Pool Crew:

Every Monday from 9:30 to 11:30am at CNIB Children and Family Services, volunteers maintain and update a toy library database and lending library. You enjoy working around young people with disabilities, have good communication and organizational skills, good keyboarding and computer skills, work well independently with minimal supervision. Vision Mate: 

Provide sighted assistance to a person who is blind or partially sighted. Activities may include reading, computer assistance, shopping, recreation assistance, community access, going for walks and friendly visiting. We're recruiting in:

Vision Luncheon Committee Member:

Work as an active member of the Event committee planning, securing sponsorships, gathering prizes, selling tickets, implementing and evaluating the annual visions luncheon in May. You have exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, special event experience or a willingness to learn, and experience or interest in networking within the community. Times are flexible, to be determined by event milestones. We're recruiting in:

Youth Camp Volunteer:

Act as a sighted guide during a variety of recreation activities for three afternoons in July. This volunteer opportunity occurs at recreational facilities in the community. You have an interest in working with youth with vision loss, are friendly with a high level of independence, and have sighted guide skills or interest to learn them. We're recruiting in:
