Walter Gretzky CNIB Golf Classic
2010 Highlights
Once again the CNIB Walter Gretzky Golf Classics held in both Red Deer and Edmonton proved to be a resounding success.
The second annual Walter Gretzky CNIB Golf Classic and Mentorship Gala in Red Deer raised $75,000 for CNIB services in Central Alberta. The evening gala featured outstanding live and silent auction items, and highlighted three guest speakers - Walter Gretzky, Norma Bastidas, and Duane Daines who shared how mentorship played an important role in their success and achievements. The golf event the next day featured many fun activities, and guests were able to meet Walter, hear his stories and get autographs. Stantec Consulting, the Title Sponsor, lead the event planning committee, and helped CNIB raise $75,000 over the two-day event.
The Edmonton event presented by Homes by Avi started with a radio auction on 1260 The Team Sports Radio. Listeners were given opportunity to bid on and enjoy a day of golf and dinner with Walter. Golfers enthusiastically competed for two chances to win the hole in one prizes sponsored by Waterworks Renovations ($10,000 bath renovation) and Edgeworth Properties who proudly displayed a brand spanking new Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle on the hole. Through the kind donations of sponsors, golf participants and volunteers, CNIB raised over $36,000.
