KRG Restoring the Spirit at CNIB Lake Joseph Centre
KRG Children’s Charitable Foundation Provides
Cornerstone Gift of $500,000 to the CNIB Lake Joseph Centre, Muskoka
Toronto, June 22, 2006
KRG Children’s Charitable Foundation recently provided the
CNIB Lake Joseph Centre with a
gift of $500,000 towards its campaign to rebuild the one-of-a-kind
facility.
"Our Cornerstone Gift will set the wheels in motion to Restoring the
Spirit at the CNIB Lake Joseph Centre," said Stephen Wise, Chairman of
KRG’s Children’s Charitable Foundation.
"Lake Joe is a very special place and the children who will benefit and
enjoy the camp should have a state-of-the-art facility. We are proud and
humbled to be involved.”
“On behalf of CNIB, I extend our thanks and appreciation to the KRG
Children’s Charitable Foundation for their generous contribution toward
rebuilding our facilities at the Lake Joseph Centre,” says Dennis
Tottenham, Executive Director – Ontario, CNIB. “KRG’s gift will help to
ensure people with vision loss will be able to enjoy the unique
offerings of the CNIB Lake Joseph Centre for years to come.”
The CNIB Lake Joseph Centre is a fully accessible recreational facility
situated on the north shore of Lake Joseph in the Muskoka Lakes Region,
has been quietly helping to enhance independence for people with vision
loss for 45 years. During the summer months, “Lake Jo”, as the Centre is
often called, welcomes children and youth with vision loss, along with
their families, to enjoy a camp experience unlike any other.
“The programs offered at CNIB’s Lake Joseph Centre offer a unique blend
of fun and rehabilitation in a safe, accessible environment,” says
Tottenham. “Our programs challenge visitors to participate in new and
exciting experiences, while building confidence and the skills needed to
fully participate in all aspects of community life.”
Over time - 45 years to be exact - time and weather have deteriorated
the Centre. A $6 million capital campaign has been launched to rebuild
the entire facility. The generous commitment from Steven Wise, Chairman
of the KRG Children's Charitable Foundation has established a
substantial foundation for the campaign, known as "Restoring the
Spirit". KRG’s gift of $500,000 will be donated over a five-year period,
creating the momentum for rebuilding the Centre’s entire site.
