Lake Joe runs throughout the summer from June to August each year almost exclusively for people living with vision loss. Designated vacation weeks are reserved for specific sessions developed for children, teens, adults, families and youth (Leadership Development and Training program – LDT).

The summer camp hosts over 400 campers each year.

Lake Joe’s inclusive environment welcomes a range of campers from children to adults, and from single campers to entire families.

Some of the exciting activities at the camp include:

  • Kayaking, canoeing and paddle-boating
  • Sailing (Hobie Cats)
  • Arts and crafts
  • Sing-alongs by the campfires
  • Pontoon boats
  • Shuffleboard
  • Waterskiing/tubing

In 1961 the Lions, CNIB and the Canadian Council for the Blind acquired a piece of paradise on Lake Joseph in Muskoka.

In 2002, Lake Joe closed it doors for a season and began to undertake renovations of the entire camp. An $8 million Restoring the Spirit Capital Campaign provided much needed funds for renovations and reconstruction. Renewed facilities include: Image of two sailboats
