Free bus transportation will be provided from the CNIB office parking lots on the following 5 routes: 1. Peterborough and Oshawa; 2. Toronto and Barrie; 3. London and Waterloo; 4. Hamilton and Mississauga; and, 5. Sudbury. The buses will be timed to be on site at Lake Joe from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During the event, CNIB will be hosting many fun activities to commemorate Lake Joseph’s 50th birthday including:

  • tandem bike rides
  • face painting
  • climbing wall
  • boat rides
  • mini putt
  • bingo
  • obstacle course
  • swimming

Alumni campers are welcome to reminisce with old friends and re-live fun camp memories in the ‘era rooms’.

In addition, a delicious all-day pancake breakfast will be served with breakfast sandwiches, popcorn, cotton candy and great birthday party treats.

Lake Joe’s 50th Birthday “Buy a Brick” campaign

In honour of our 50th birthday season we have launched the Lake Joe Birthday Brick campaign.

Buy a brick and celebrate Lake Joe’s 50 years of providing fully accessible recreational activities for people with of all disabilities including vision loss.

Lake Joe is a fully accessible recreational facility that provides a fun and safe environment for people of all ages with vision loss. Lake Joe offers a unique mix of recreation and rehabilitation programs for teens, adults, children and families.

With your donation of $250, you will receive:

  • A birthday brick inscribed with either your name or the name of someone you would like to honour and placed in our new “walkway to independence”, at the main entrance to our Welcome Centre
  • A certificate of recognition
  • An invitation to our 2011 Birthday celebration to be held on August 20, 2011 at Lake Joe to see your brick

Your donation will:

  • Allow Lake Joe to continue to provide a unique mix of recreation and rehabilitation programs for teens, adults, children and families of people who are blind or partially sighted
  • Assist us in building a walkway that will guide our clients safely into the Lake Joe Centre
