The Barney Danson Bursary
Past Recipients
Overview:
The Barney Danson Bursary will be awarded to a Canadian student with vision loss for the purpose of attending a Canadian post-secondary institution. The recipient will be determined by the CNIB Scholarship Selection Committee in accordance with its application procedures, with preference given to a student with financial need.
Amount of Award:
One scholarship in the amount of $5,000
Eligibility:
Candidates must be:
- Blind or living with vision loss;
- A secondary school graduate entering post-secondary education;
- A Canadian citizen or have held landed immigrant status for one year prior to the date of application.
Application Process:
To be considered eligible for the scholarship program students must submit the following documentation no later than April 30:
- A completed application form
- At least one letter of reference from a teacher or school official;
- An indication of graduation from a secondary education program and
- A covering letter of 250-300 words, by the applicant describing the applicant’s hobbies, interests, study plans, future goals and financial needs.
