Job Title:

Canvasser, Community Outreach

Summary:

The Canvasser, Community Outreach, will be responsible for working as a member of high performing Door to door canvassing team.  He/she will represent CNIB in the community, educate potential donors about CNIBs programs and services and solicit monthly donations.

 

The Canvasser will report directly to Team Lead, Community Outreach

 

Essential Functions

 

The position entails, but is not limited to, the following general responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a Door to door canvassing team

  • Listen to Team Lead's guidance, daily goals and priorities

  • Contribute to a positive, energetic and rewarding team environment

  • Represent CNIB in the community

  • Educate potential donors on CNIB programs and services

  • Solicit monthly donations

  • Increase monthly donor base

  • Follow set daily route

  • Ensure all donations are recorded accurately

  • Ensure all materials including Ipads are kept in good condition

  • Leave positive impact on the community

  • Report on daily progress

     

Qualifications: (Education, Training, Experience):

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable conversing with a variety of people in different situations

  • Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills

  • Comfortable working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment

  • Thoroughness, timeliness, flexibility and an ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines

  • Computer proficiency

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to develop and maintain positive, productive relationships with senior volunteers

  • Resourceful, results-oriented with a positive, "can do" attitude

Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma required

  • Door to door, fundraising or sales experience is an asset

  • Ability to commute to CNIBs Barrie office

  • Ability to complete daily canvasser route

Work Environment:

  • Willingness to work in the afternoon and evening – 5 hr shifts
  • Willingness to work some flexible hours
  • Willingness to travel
  • Desire to be a passionate advocate for CNIB and those we serve
