JOB TITLE: Manager, Fund Development
TERM: Full time (35 hours per week)
LOCATION: Edmonton, Alberta
Summary:
This is a management level position responsible to develop, manage, and implement a diversified fund development program at the corporate, personal and community levels across a geographic location.
In covering a broad range of duties this position works with internal and external constituents in an innovative manner to maximize fundraising net revenue for CNIB. This will be accomplished by building and managing relationships with prospect donors, estate and financial planning professionals and; providing stewardship and recognition to existing donors and their advisors in the advancement of gifts to CNIB.
This position entails, but is not limited to the following:
- Design and implement a diversified fundraising plan that includes short-term and long-term strategies and ensures a donor-centric approach across programs and initiatives. This plan includes but is not limited to the following revenue streams: corporate gifts and partnerships, individual gifts, direct mail, planned gifts, and sponsorship
- Conduct regional needs assessment by evaluating current CNIB Alberta & Northwest Territories market for increased revenue potential. Maximize fundraising through existing markets by expanding successful programs and implementing new ones according to trends and best practices
- Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications team to influence communication activities within the region
- Actively seek out partnerships with external regional stakeholders
- Manages and cultivates a list of personal giving prospects related to Planned Giving and Major Gifts
- Identify and recruit volunteers as needed. Provide leadership and training in all aspects of the moves management strategy as required
- Assist Special Events Manager with roll-out of profitable events in Alberta and Northwest Territories and develop/execute plans to achieve growth consistent with regional strategic plan targets
- Keeps abreast of new fundraising industry trends and issues impacting CNIB and regional stakeholders
- Develop and maintain database files on all fundraising activities
- Contribute to the divisional annual operating plan and budget for fund development by working collaboratively with the fund development team and the division staff, sharing best practices and offering support when needed
Qualifications: (Education, Training, Experience)
- Post secondary education in marketing, communications, public relations, or related program
- CFRE designation or equivalent a definite asset
- Minimum 5 years progressive experience in fund development with a proven track record of actualized gifts/revenue generation.
- Strong Personal Giving experience and knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft office software; relevant donor management software experience essential (preferably Raiser’s Edge)
- Knowledge of fundraising principles and theories
- Knowledge of the operation of a fund development department and its function in a non-profit organization
- Knowledge of privacy legislation and able to conduct business in accordance to CFRE/AFP/CAGP code of Ethics and adheres to CNIB Privacy Policies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good relationship builder with superb interpersonal skills; exceptional active listening, intuition and observation skills
- Strong team leadership skills; ability to teach, mentor and coach
- Professional attitude, self-starter, and high moral and ethical values
- Knowledge and experience with Planned Giving processes and gift opportunities and working with internal and external constituents in a professional manner to maximize Planned Giving opportunities.
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with Experience.
