Job Title: Manager, Community Development
 
Term: Full-Time

Summary:
 
This is a management level position responsible for providing functional leadership and is responsible for planning, budgeting, managing and coordinating activities related to special events. 
 
In covering a broad range of duties this position will focus on the strategies for special events by working with internal and external constituents in an innovative and strategic manner.  This position is part of the Ottawa and East Region Fund Development Team and takes direction from the Director, Development. 
 
Essential Duties entail (but not limited to):
 
In consultation with the Director, Development and working under National/Divisional policies and standards, this position provides leadership and expertise in:
  • Planning, executing and evaluating all major CNIB signature events and provides with CNIB’s “Share Your Vision” third party fundraising program initiative
  • Developing corporate sponsorship opportunities and partnerships for all CNIB events and actively recruiting event sponsors and partners
  • Managing volunteer recruitment, engagement and recognition for the region, including special event committees and general fundraising volunteers 
  • Developing and maintaining files and database on all fundraising activities using The Raiser’s Edge
  • Developing an annual business plan for the Community Development portfolio including the preparation of detailed budgets and critical paths for signature events, including detailed analysis and evaluation
  • Working collaboratively with Director, Development on program budget and strategic direction
  • Preparing and distributing communication materials (letters, brochures, posters, proposals, articles, press releases, reports etc.) for internal and external audiences as required
  • Processing expenses and event reports in a timely manner
  • Working closely with division Manager, Communications to maximize awareness and traffic to the event revenue streams program

Qualifications: (Education, Training, Experience)
 
  • Undergraduate degree in marketing and/or communications
  • 5 years progressive experience in fund development, or managing major special events and programs
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communications, and presentation skills
  • Strong team leader with the ability to motivate a dynamic and diverse team
  • Proficient in Microsoft office software and relevant donor management software
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and theories
  • Knowledge of the operation of a fund development department and its function in a non-profit organization
  • Excellent relationship builder
  • Strong team leadership skills
  • Strong project management and coordination skills
  • Professional attitude, self-starter, and flexible
  • Proven research, analytical, problem solving and budgetary skills
  • Proven time management and organization skills
  • Willingness to advance knowledge and skills in fund development and marketing/communications
  • Willingness to travel within a large geographical region may be required

Salary Range: To Commensurate Based on Experience
