Job Title: Coordinator, Volunteer Services
Term: Part Time
Location: Kelowna, BC
Summary:
Coordinates and implements a comprehensive volunteer services program within a defined geographic region for CNIB, Services and Operations. Works closely with management and staff to identify and fulfill volunteer requirements. Ensures activity of the volunteers meets the needs of the organization. Works with internal and external constituents to recruit, screen, interview, place, orient, train, coordinate, cultivate, recognize, steward and direct volunteer services within the region.
Essential duties entail (but not limited to):
General Responsibilities:
- Provides overall coordination and implementation of the volunteer services program, including: assess and identify, in conjunction with management and staff, the requirements for volunteer resources in the region; actively recruits, screens, interviews, places, coordinates work assignments, cultivates volunteers; matches volunteer profiles and competencies with appropriate assignments according to availability and location; provides orientation and ensures training of volunteers according to their assignment; may provide direct supervision of volunteers or provide training and support to staff who directly supervise volunteers
- Works with staff to prepare and update volunteer position descriptions, competencies, goals and tasks in accordance with identified needs; ensures annual performance appraisals on volunteers in consultation with staff; evaluates effectiveness of the program on an ongoing basis
- Develops, maintains and manages a database and tracking system of volunteer activities
- Develops and maintains a volunteer recognition and stewardship program
- Develops and maintains active working relationships with local volunteer agencies, city/regional municipal organizations, and local CNIB partners
- Speaks at public and private meetings representing the CNIB and assists with the creation of a Volunteer Ambassadors Program to assist with funding requests and public education
- Participates as a fully integrated member of the regional team with regular travel within the Region
Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience):
Proven knowledge and skills in recruitment and retention of a wide range of volunteer roles
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of regional strategies, concepts and principles
Well developed interpersonal skills
Demonstrated relationship management skills for individuals, groups, partners and organizations
Excellent written and oral communication skills to develop and deliver presentations
Experience with training and development of volunteers
Proven leadership skills
Proven coaching skills
Creative and innovative problem solving skills
Detail-oriented, highly organized with excellent multi-project and time management skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software and database management
Minimum of five years experience in comparable position within a non-profit, voluntary organization
Volunteer Management Certificate from accredited program an asset
AVRBC membership an asset
Excellent oral and written communication and public speaking skills
Detail-oriented with excellent multi-project, time management, and computer skills\
Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
