Job Title :          Assistant Guest Services Coordinator 

Term :               May 2012 to September 2012


Location :          MacTier, ON    

 

Summary

Ensures waterfront safety.  Ensures all waterfront equipment is in working order on a daily basis.  Works with other Assistant Waterfront Coordinators and the Waterfront Coordinator with the safety of the waterfront at all times.
 

Essential Duties entail (but not limited to:)

  • Ensure all waterfront equipment and waterfront vehicles is accounted for and in good working order on a daily basis, when not, it must be recorded and reported to the manager or program supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Ensure highest quality of boating (canoes, sailboats, kayaks and motor boats) instructions by training, scheduling, and supervising boat drivers and lifeguards.
  • Assist with managing and maintaining daily waterfront and water vehicle records.
  • Work closely with the Waterfront Coordinator to ensure the highest level of waterfront safety possible by coordinating all waterfront search procedures, staff training and practices.
  • Ensure all waterfront programs are ready for the daily programs 15 minutes prior to the start of the program.
  • Establish and enforce safety procedures among staff, volunteers and guests.
  • Take part in all assigned change over duties.
  • Ensure that all waterfront equipment comply with standards by conducting a daily check.
  • Follow up with any repair equipments.
  • Familiarize boat drivers with the boats and the lake; train all boat drivers with CNIB procedures.
  • Ensure once a week maintenance of all centre waterfront equipment and reporting problems to waterfront coordinator.
  • Help teach waterskiing, sailing, canoeing, etc. to staff.
  • Maintain constant vigilance on the waterfront, particularly lifeguard actions/roles as well as other staff and volunteers when the Waterfront Coordinator is unavailable.
  • Provide clear direction to lifeguards, highlighting specific zone and duty coverage in the absence of the Waterfront Coordinator.
  • Take an active role in preseason and on going lifeguard and staff training for life guarding and non-life guarding staffs.
  • Maintain a positive role model at the waterfront and at camp site.
  • Participate in all dining room duties.
  • Participate in all assigned evening programs.
  • Participate in all waterfront and non-waterfront training.
  • Assist with the programming during waterfront time, boat cruises, waterfront games, etc.
  •   

Qualifications: (Education, Training, Experience) 

  • Current Pool NLS Certification, for duration of contract.
  • Current Waterfront Certification, for duration of contract.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C”, for duration of contract.
  • Current Police Record Check.
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Certification.
  • G-Class Driver’s License is an asset; current Driver’s Abstract.
  • Related work experience in a leadership role.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to resolve conflict and take a lead role in emergency situations.
  • Demonstrate positive behavior towards guests and visitors.
  • Ability to be a role model for lifeguards and other team members.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and provide leadership to others.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Supervising experience is an asset.
  • Experience instructing and overseeing water safety is an asset.
  • First Aid and Bronze Cross Instructor/Examiner an asset.
  • Ability to follow all protocols during any waterfront emergency.
  • Ability to train and use of rescue boat and paddle boards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts.
  • Must be willing to share accommodations with one other staff person.
  • Must be willing to meet and follow all uniform and attire guidelines.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment for long periods of time.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
 
Salary Range : As per salary scale
