CNIB remembers the life of decorated war veteran Barney Danson

21/10/2011

Recognized across the country as an outstanding war hero, member of Parliament, and minister of defence, CNIB celebrates the life of decorated veteran Barney Danson.

During the Second World War, he served as Lieutenant Colonel before he was wounded in the Battle of Normandy and lost sight in one eye. He began losing sight in his good eye in the late 1990s from age-related macular degeneration (AMD). He never let his failing eyesight stop him. Mr. Danson was a strong advocate, volunteer and supporter of CNIB, and in particular the CNIB Library. He passed away Monday at the age of 90

He leaves his wife, Isobel, and children Kenneth, John, Timothy and Peter and their families. We send our sincerest condolences to his family.
