CNIB will be adding new audio books to its Library thanks to a generous donation from the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia and the group Serbians - Citizens of the World.

The addition of eight classics from Serbian literature will be the first books in the CNIB Library collection in a language other than English or French. The recordings were completed in Serbia and the publisher has granted permission for CNIB to convert them to DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) format, which is the most popular format amongst CNIB Library users.

“CNIB is tremendously pleased to receive this donation to our Library. It is reflective of Canada’s multiculturalism, and we hope to continue expanding our collection to offer books in accessible formats in languages that represent our diverse client base. This is an exciting first step in that direction,” said John Rafferty, President and CEO, CNIB.

The donation was made at an event held on February 4, 2012 at the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia and was attended by Consul General Vladimir Pavlov, Snezana Boskovic, Project Manager, Serbians – Citizens of the World, Penny Hartin, CEO, World Blind Union and John Rafferty, President and CEO, CNIB, amongst others.
